Dear Senator, Representative, Mayor, and Commissioner,

I am writing about the Doe Mountain Recreation Authority's plan to build 20 RV sites and a bathhouse on Pedro Shoun Lane, right next to Doe Valley Campground, a local family-owned campground located in Johnson County, TN.

I am against public tax money being used to build a state funded, state ran campground about 50 feet from a private campground that competes with that business.

I am asking you to do two things:

1. Deny the federal and state grant funding for this project.
2. Tell DMRA not to compete with local businesses.

The reasons are simple. The rules for both grant programs utilized to build the proposed campground address government funded projects that compete with private business in the same area, and specifically forbid tax payers money to compete with private business. DMRA does NOT qualify for the government grant, has not shown that Johnson County needs 20 more RV sites, and a campground already exists next door serving the same visitors.

Beyond any legalities, persuasive political standings, etc., it is just plain wrong!

Please act on these two requests and let the people of Johnson County know what you decide.
