This is the order things happened in, as plainly as we can put it. The documents behind these lines are on the documents page.
- Oct–Nov 2022
DMRA’s then-director and Johnson County Mayor Larry Potter visit our land. The director writes: “Overall, I think you have an amazing site for development into a resort for trail users on the Doe Mountain System,” and suggests placing campsites and cabins there.
- Dec 2022
We break ground on Doe Valley Campground. DMRA invites us onto its marketing committee as a “current and future business owner.”
- Nov 9, 2023
DMRA’s public focus group. Local business owners say they do not want DMRA campgrounds competing with them.
- Dec 12, 2023
DMRA’s director writes that the recommendation to the board will be to purchase property “for a training facility.”
- Feb 6, 2024
DMRA’s board authorizes exploring the purchase.
- Apr 2, 2024
Board adopts the master plan showing “Proposed Lodge and Training Center” on our parcel, then votes to buy the 80 acres.
- ~Late May / June 2024
DMRA closes on the purchase of our 80 acres on Pedro Shoun Lane.
- Jan 2025
DMRA asks to buy 5–8 more acres from us for another grant. We decline; that land is our own expansion area.
- Apr 1, 2025
Camping at the site appears in a DMRA board record for the first time.
- Apr 16, 2025
DMRA’s director writes about not wanting to “piss off the other campgrounds.”
- Jun 2025
DMRA’s board approves buying Roan Creek Campground for up to $350,000.
- Dec 2, 2025
Board adopts a new master plan that now shows tent camping and, on the site map, “Parking Slips w/ Hook-Ups” — not “RV sites.” The plan’s own narrative still mentions RV hookups and slips. Four months later DMRA voted to build 20 RV sites on that same land.
- Feb 3, 2026
DMRA applies for federal reimbursement on the purchase of our land.
- Apr 7, 2026
Board votes to commit matching money for a federal ARC grant to build “20 RV sites and a bathhouse.” Same meeting: DMRA confirms it received $159,000 in federal reimbursement for buying our land.
- Jun 23, 2026
Board minutes say the ARC application is “still in progress.”
- Aug 2026
We file written objections with state and federal officials. Reviews are underway.
